Overview
At Brandeis University, Echo360 serves as the primary video platform for hosting, managing, and recording academic media. For instructors looking for a hands-off recording experience, select classrooms across campus are equipped with Automated Lecture Capture hardware. This system automatically records scheduled lectures and integrates directly with your course materials.
Key Benefits & Features
-
Centralized Media Library: All automated recordings are saved directly to your personal Echo360 digital media library.
-
Seamless Moodle Integration: Easily post your captured lectures directly onto your course pages.
-
Automatic Transcriptions: Every hosted video receives an automated transcript with an easy-to-use, built-in editor for quick refinements.
-
Interactive Engagement: Enhance your recorded lectures post-capture with embedded polls and monitor student engagement using detailed analytics.
-
In-Platform Editing: Trim the beginning and end of your lectures or cut out sections from the middle without needing any external editing software.
How to Request Automated Lecture Capture
Because automated capture relies on room-specific hardware schedules, requests must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the start of each semester.
Instructors can request this service using either of the following methods:
Method 1: Directly via Moodle
-
Log into your Moodle Course Page.
-
Look for the "Question Mark" icon located on the bottom right side of the page to initiate the request.
Method 2: Online Request Form
⚠️ Note: Not all rooms support automated recording. Before submitting a request, verify your classroom's capabilities by reviewing the List of Equipped Classrooms.
Managing Your Recorded Lectures
Zoom & Moodle Workflows
If you also teach hybrid or remote sessions, Echo360 bridges the gap between your platforms:
-
Zoom Integration: Any lectures recorded via Zoom are automatically copied into your Echo360 library for secure, long-term management.
-
For step-by-step guidance on sharing these files, reference the instructor video on Posting a Zoom Recording to Moodle via Echo360.
